Adventures in Mysore

I'm a 20 year old college junior spending a semester abroad in Mysore, in South India. Read this blog and see just how much fun I'm having.

Maybe yoga isn't for me after all. I'm reconsidering the class after a failed attempt to get into the lotus position resulted in nothing but frustration and horrendously sore knees for the rest of the day. Apparently I have all the flexibility of a steel rod. I knew I should have stuck with gymnastics as a kid.

We had our first dinner tonight that wasn't organized by our trip leaders. I don't know if I'll ever become truly close with the people here, but they all seem like good people. Had a good time at dinner tonight. I'm still looking forward to going to the Green Hotel for an American breakfast this weekend though. Mmmm, pancakes.

I guess it's a bit ambituous to feel close to such a foreign culture after 10 days. Regardless, learning a bit of their language, culture, customs will go away to removing bariers. I suspect you are viewed as foreign and strange as well. it's hard to take initiative to reach out even at home in your native land....and even more challenging now...but i'm also sure your in creasing confidence will let you reach out and enjoy a positive response. Here's a chan ce for others to broaden their minds when it comes to the Yankees. By the way going for dinner on your own took a lot of curiosity and courage.....I'll bet they were curious about you as well.

Yoga is not learned in a day. I encourage you to stick with it to the best of your abilities. Your joints may be annoying but this kind of stuff is, on balance good for them.

Pancakes? Hmmm.
